Vin Diesel returned to the theater where it all began to mark the 25th anniversary of The Fast and the Furious. During the event, he shared details about the production of the franchise finale, Fast Forever. Production on the long-awaited project is set to begin this December.
Fans have waited for news regarding the final installment, which has faced a long development cycle. Following the release of Fast X in 2023, the production team worked through multiple script drafts to find the right direction for the conclusion. Diesel noted that the current script, written by Mike Lesslie, is the most impactful one he has encountered in decades. The film is currently scheduled for release on March 17, 2028.
The event was an emotional milestone for the original cast. Diesel attended the screening alongside costars Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez. He spoke at length about his bond with the late Paul Walker, referring to their connection as an eternal brotherhood. The presence of Walker's daughter, Meadow, at the screening added to the significance of the evening for the long-running film family.
Diesel framed the conclusion as a major responsibility to the audience. He stated that returning to Los Angeles, the setting of the first film, is a deliberate choice to close out the story in a meaningful way. While Fast X faced challenges at the box office, the production team views the finale as an opportunity to deliver a final product that honors the history of the series.
