Disney has officially launched this year’s World Princess Week. The annual event honors the franchise through a blend of new entertainment, global experiences, and consumer products. The highlight of the week is the release of the short film Once A Princess, Always A Princess, directed by filmmaker Alex Prager. The film is now available on Disney+ and features a live orchestra performance alongside practical effects to showcase the connection between generations of fans.
Beyond the new short, the company is hosting various events across its global ecosystem. This includes the streaming of Disney Princess: The Ultimate Concert Celebration, which features performances from legendary voices including Jodi Benson, Paige O’Hara, and Lea Salonga. Fans can also access fresh content on streaming platforms, including new episodes of Sofia the First and the debut of the animated special LEGO Disney Princess: Magical Mayhem. These programs aim to provide fans with ways to engage with the characters they grew up with while introducing the stories to a new generation.
Collaborations with Make-A-Wish are central to the week, with the company granting signature wishes globally. This effort highlights the role these characters play in the lives of children facing critical illnesses. Local activations also play a part in the celebration, such as the recent Disney Princess Night held by the Angel City Football Club, which included themed entertainment and performances.
Retail and digital engagement are also a major component of the initiative. TikTok is hosting a dedicated search hub for fans to find collectible cards, while new product lines from Mattel and JAKKS Pacific will hit shelves. Books from Disney Publishing and new cooking resources offer additional ways for fans to interact with the brand. These initiatives aim to maintain the connection between the characters and fans as they move through different stages of life.
The initiative reinforces the Create Your World campaign by encouraging fans to dream and build their own narratives. Whether through new films, live concerts, or consumer products, the week serves as a moment to highlight the impact of these stories on audiences worldwide.
