Midstate radio station changing hands as religious broadcaster’s expansion continues

Family Life Ministries is expanding its reach in Pennsylvania with a $2.25 million deal to acquire two new radio stations. The religious broadcaster is purchasing WWKL-FM in Dauphin County and WLLF-FM in Mercer County from Cumulus Media. This acquisition follows the organization's recent move into the Millersburg market, where they purchased a station that now operates as WCDF.

WWKL-FM, known as Hot 106.7, will see significant changes as part of this transition. The station is moving its broadcast signal to 96.5 FM. Once the Federal Communications Commission finalizes the purchase, the station will undergo a rebranding to WCDM. The 50,000-watt signal of the current station provides coverage to a wide area, including Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York, which remains a primary focus for the ministry's expansion goals.

Rick Snavely, the CEO of Family Life, stated that the organization expects the FCC to approve the deal within the next 25 to 40 days. Once the transition is complete, the new programming will aim to provide Christian content to a broader audience across central Pennsylvania. The group remains committed to covering communities in both New York and Pennsylvania.

Challenges have occasionally slowed this growth, as seen in their previous effort to upgrade a station licensed to Elizabethville. Structural issues at a planned antenna site caused delays, though work continues to strengthen the tower. These efforts highlight the logistical hurdles involved in expanding radio infrastructure across the state. Cumulus Media has not yet released a comment regarding the sale of these assets.
