Jack White Brings Out Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson to Tear Up Free’s ‘I’m a Mover’

Jack White is keeping his current tour unpredictable. During his recent stop at the Radius venue in Chicago, the musician invited Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson on stage for a special performance. Instead of playing hits from their own catalogs, the duo performed a cover of Free’s deep cut I’m a Mover.

White focused on his guitar work for the track, leaving the vocal duties to Robinson. This appearance marks another unexpected moment in a tour that has already seen White share the stage with his daughter, Scarlett, in Brooklyn. During that performance, Scarlett played bass on the 1999 White Stripes song Cannon.

The tour currently supports White’s eighth solo album, Frozen Charlotte, which arrived on July 10. White maintains a strictly phone-free environment at every venue, pushing fans to focus on the live music. Following his recent stateside dates, White plans to take the production to Europe starting in August.

The Chicago show also featured a rendition of Robert Johnson’s Phonograph Blues, highlighting the heavy blues influence present in his current live sets. White continues to cycle through deep cuts from his solo work and his history with the White Stripes. With the tour extending through the fall, the show remains a significant draw for live music fans.
