Modest Mouse has announced a change to their upcoming tour lineup. Guitarist Simon O'Connor will not join the band for their next run of shows following recent public accusations of inappropriate conduct involving a teenage fan.
The allegations surfaced earlier this week on social media, where a 17-year-old fan shared screenshots of messages she received from O'Connor. The guitarist addressed the situation in a separate online post, where he claimed he mistook the fan's social media account for someone else's.
The band confirmed O'Connor's departure via an Instagram update. They stated that Les Savy Fav guitarist Seth Jabour will fill the spot for the duration of the tour. Modest Mouse has not provided further comment on the specific nature of the allegations against O'Connor.
O'Connor joined the band in 2021 and contributed to their latest record, An Eraser And A Maze. The tour is currently in a planned break and is scheduled to resume on August 4 in Ojai, California.
