Marion Suge Knight has issued a sharp warning to legal teams involved in the ongoing murder trial of Tupac Shakur. The former Death Row Records executive, currently serving a 28-year sentence for manslaughter, explicitly stated he wants no involvement in the court proceedings surrounding defendant Duane Keffe D Davis.
Knight was present in the vehicle when the shooting occurred in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. While he appears on the current prosecution witness list, he maintains that the trial is irrelevant to his own situation and has cautioned that anyone attempting to pull him into the proceedings will face consequences.
Davis, who was arrested in 2023, faces charges related to the decades-old killing. Though Davis previously implicated his late nephew as the potential gunman in his 2019 memoir, he later told investigators that the narrative in his book was ghostwritten and maintained his innocence. Jury selection for the case began in Nevada this week.
Knight remains at San Diego’s Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, where he has been held for over a decade. He dismisses the validity of accounts provided by those who were not physically present during the incident, telling media outlets that he is not in the business of investigating homicides.
