Dermot Mulroney has officially confirmed his departure from the NBC drama Chicago Fire. During an appearance at the Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Convention, the actor spoke about his exit as his character, Chief Dom Pascal, is set to be written out of the show in the upcoming 15th season.
Mulroney joined the long-running series in 2024 during Season 13. He described the experience of filming 22 episodes for network television as a high challenge that he thoroughly enjoyed. While his time on the show was brief compared to some of the veteran cast members who have been with the production for 15 years, Mulroney noted the deep connection he formed with the crew and the strong reception he received from fans in Chicago.
Reflecting on his tenure, Mulroney stated that the production team provided him with demanding scenes that pushed his performance. He acknowledged the popularity of Firehouse 51, mentioning that many fans approached him specifically regarding his role as Chief Pascal. Although the departure is difficult, he noted that he gave his all during his two seasons on the program.
Looking ahead, the 62-year-old actor remains busy with new projects. He recently confirmed his involvement in a sequel to the 2005 comedy-drama The Family Stone. As for his time on Chicago Fire, he will appear in one final episode when the 15th season premieres in October.
