BritBox has unveiled the first image of Edward Bluemel as the iconic detective Hercule Poirot. This new project marks a significant adaptation of Agatha Christie's famous novels. The upcoming six-part drama currently films in Liverpool and focuses on the earlier years of the character. Officials describe the series as both an intimate study of the man himself and a portrait of life in Britain between the two world wars.

The show pulls from three of Christie's early stories. While viewers know the character through long-standing portrayals from actors like David Suchet and Kenneth Branagh, this production moves in a different direction with its casting and scope. The plot introduces Poirot to the people who will become his future friends and allies, while also establishing his rivalry with a central nemesis.

Bluemel heads a large ensemble cast that includes familiar faces such as Jack Gleeson, Tamsin Greig, and James Nesbitt. Benji Walters wrote the scripts for the project, which is produced by Mammoth Screen in association with Agatha Christie Limited. The series will arrive on BritBox in North America and on the BBC in the United Kingdom.

Production teams are already at work on the site locations. While no official release date exists, expectations point to a 2027 premiere. The BBC made a major commitment to secure the rights for this series, with plans currently covering up to three seasons. The project reflects the ongoing popularity of the source material, which continues to reach massive global audiences well over a century after the original publications.
