ESPN's Ryan Clark And Karl Ravech Among 8 On-Air Personalities Leaving Amid Company-Wide Layoffs
ESPN is undergoing a significant staff reduction as part of a larger round of layoffs at Disney. Eight on-air personalities were notified of their departure today, including Emmy-winning analyst Ryan Clark and veteran baseball commentator Karl Ravech.
Ryan Clark, who joined the network in 2015, left mid-broadcast during an episode of NFL Live after being informed of the decision. Other departures include SportsCenter anchor David Lloyd, injury analyst Stephania Bell, and several contributors linked to the NFL Network, which ESPN acquired earlier this year.
Karl Ravech leaves after a tenure that began in 1993. Known for his work on Baseball Tonight and Sunday Night Baseball, Ravech served as a consistent voice across ESPN coverage for over three decades. Cam Newton and Bart Scott are also among the former NFL players no longer with the sports giant.
ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro stated that these organizational changes stem from the integration of the NFL Network assets and a broader evaluation of the company structure. Management noted these decisions are tied to the acquisition, although some cuts occur in other departments. The company claims it aims to manage this transition with support for all affected staff members.
This shift marks a notable change in the network lineup as it adjusts its strategy following the January acquisition of the NFL Network. Viewers can expect a different look for flagship studio shows throughout the remainder of the sports season.
