During a recent conversation on The Tangle podcast, O’Donnell stated she intends to participate in the celebration alongside other former cohosts. While acknowledging the high-profile clashes that marked her previous time on the show, O’Donnell expressed pride in the current iteration of the program and its influence on political discourse.
Reflecting on her past experiences, O’Donnell characterized the show’s environment during her first tenure as volatile. She criticized the management style at that time, noting that the program felt like a factory where personal security for staff remained tenuous. She also highlighted her discomfort with the show’s original structure, which often placed editorial control under male leadership despite the show’s premise as a platform for women.
O’Donnell noted that her relationship with the late creator Barbara Walters remained cordial in later years despite the friction experienced on air. While she maintains that she has no desire to return as a full-time moderator, she is prepared to join the festivities for the upcoming season. The 64-year-old is currently managing other projects, including a brief turn hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live, as she prepares for this guest appearance.
