‘Wonder Man’ Canceled After 1 Season At Disney+

Disney+ has canceled the series Wonder Man after one season. This decision comes as a surprise to the industry because Marvel Studios had previously granted the show a second season renewal in March.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who played the lead character Simon Williams, addressed the cancellation on social media. He thanked viewers for their support throughout the project and noted his appreciation for the reception the series received. The actor earned an Emmy nomination for his performance, which remains a notable achievement for a live-action Marvel show.

Data from Nielsen indicates the first season attracted 618 million minutes of viewing during its opening week. While it reached the number eight spot among streaming originals, the audience demographics skewed heavily toward viewers between the ages of 35 and 49.

Although the production is finished, Marvel has confirmed this move does not prevent the characters from appearing in other parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future.
