Amazon is moving deeper into the healthcare market. The company now offers popular weight-loss medications including Wegovy, Zepbound, and Foundayo to eligible Medicare Part D patients at a fixed price of $50 per month.
This expansion targets a significant segment of the population seeking access to GLP-1 drugs for obesity and diabetes management. By integrating these prescriptions into its existing pharmacy and One Medical infrastructure, Amazon combines virtual consultations with home delivery. The company plans to reach nearly 4,500 cities and towns with its same-day medication delivery service by the end of 2026.
This program places Amazon in direct competition with major pharmaceutical manufacturers like Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk. For the retail giant, the objective is to secure recurring customers within its health ecosystem. Analysts are currently focused on patient adoption rates and whether this model will establish a reliable stream of repeat revenue for the company.
