Braun: Some Indiana Medicaid recipients can have access to select GLP-1 medications

Indiana Governor Mike Braun announced that certain Medicaid recipients in the state will gain access to specific GLP-1 medications. This change aims to support the state initiative known as Make Indiana Healthy Again.

By participating in the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation’s BALANCE demonstration, Indiana officials secured a predictable pricing structure for these obesity treatments. The cost is set at $245 per member per month. The state projects its portion of the expense will be $85.16 per person per month after federal contributions.

Governor Braun stated this agreement provides providers and patients with effective treatment options. State officials believe that broader access to this medical care helps residents maintain their presence in the workforce and reduces long-term reliance on public assistance programs.
