Law enforcement officials have charged him with malicious wounding, the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm within a dwelling.
His mother, Mia Bieniemy, sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the incident. She received treatment in an intensive care unit and has since been released to continue her recovery. The specific motive behind the shooting remains under investigation by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Due to the pending mental health assessment, two of Elijah Bieniemy's scheduled court appearances have been delayed.
In response to this family crisis, Eric Bieniemy is currently away from the Kansas City Chiefs organization as they hold training camp. Head coach Andy Reid expressed support for his coordinator, stating that the focus remains on personal matters while other staff members manage his duties.
