George R.R. Martin returned to his blog this week to share a personal update with fans. The Game of Thrones author revealed that he has spent much of the past year battling sadness and depression while managing a schedule that he described as overwhelming. Martin noted that his last direct blog post was in February and that his staff has handled updates since that time.

He admitted that turning seventy-seven has been difficult and that while he has seen some exciting professional moments, he has also faced significant personal losses and stress. He acknowledged the reality of aging and stated that his future posts will likely remain brief as he works to manage his current situation.

Despite the personal challenges, Martin highlighted the success of his show, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The series, which he co-created with Ira Parker, earned nine Emmy nominations. Martin expressed pride in the team but noted his disappointment that the lead actors did not receive individual nominations. He remains hopeful about the show's future performance during the upcoming awards season.
