A federal court lawsuit filed this week brings serious allegations against pop star Selena Gomez and her mother, Mandy Teefey. Investors are suing the pair and co-founder Daniella Pierson over their mental health start-up, Wondermind.
The plaintiffs claim they were misled into investing $1.2 million based on false representations about the company's health. The lawsuit alleges that the brand did not have the infrastructure, leadership, or resources it claimed to possess. Investors argue that Wondermind failed to launch the promised wellness platform and that internal operations were in complete disarray.
According to the court filing, the founders allegedly ignored contractual obligations. Specifically, the suit claims Selena Gomez did not fulfill her role as head of marketing despite expectations that her involvement would drive the company’s success. Investors were reportedly told the company was valued at $95 million and sought further capital while the founders held roughly 90 percent of the shares.
Allegations also extend to the management of funds and the state of the company’s internal operations. The plaintiffs assert that they were kept in the dark about financial troubles until reports surfaced in 2025. They are now seeking a jury trial to resolve claims regarding the company's collapse and the return of their investments.
