Roanoke is set to host a unique community event on September 26, 2026, aimed at opening difficult conversations about mental health and recovery. Titled When Truth Takes the Stage, the program takes place at 3025 Frontier Road from 6 to 9 p.m.
The Blinded Truth Podcast organizes this performance. Hosts Destinnee Vance and Eric Foster, both Certified Peer Recovery Specialists, lead the effort to reduce stigma surrounding substance use and mental health struggles. They intend to provide a platform for individuals to process their experiences in a public setting.
Performers will share their stories through various artistic mediums including spoken word, music, dance, and poetry. By combining personal testimony with creative performance, the organizers hope to foster a sense of hope and community connection for those impacted by trauma or recovery journeys.
This event offers a rare chance to hear raw, lived experiences from local residents in a supportive environment. Attendees are invited to listen, learn, and engage with the stories presented by those who have navigated their own paths toward healing.
