The Delaware Division of Small Business has distributed a new round of funding to support food access across the state. These funds are part of the Delaware Grocery Initiative and the First State Food System Grant Program. In total, 28 schools and organizations are receiving a share of $712,000 to improve their infrastructure and capacity for providing healthy food to their communities.
Recent presentations highlight the specific goals of this initiative. The Milton Community Food Pantry received $20,000 to expand its ability to offer fresh produce to local residents. Additionally, North Dover Elementary School was awarded $15,000 to scale its garden program, a model that is already operational at Springer Middle School in New Castle County.
