Pickens County residents are questioning a new proposed lake ordinance that could change regulations around Lake Keowee and Lake Jocassee. Local residents point out that the area already operates under a established master plan that has been in place for 25 years. There is frustration over the perception that this proposal might restrict private property rights, including future building projects or modifications to existing lakefront land. Some residents feel that the current regulations remain sufficient and question the sudden drive for these new measures.
Council Chairman Alex Saitta stated that the proposal serves as a starting point for public discussion.
