His research demonstrates how a mother's gut health influences fetal neurodevelopment through changes in DNA methylation and gene expression. These findings indicate that the influence of the gut microbiome begins long before the offspring is born, affecting brain development and behavior in ways that are relevant to both veterinary and human medicine.
