Current solutions often rely on immunotherapy or choosing specific breeds marketed as hypoallergenic, though research from the National Institutes of Health indicates these methods do not consistently prevent allergic reactions. Because the Can f 1 protein originates in sebaceous glands and tongue tissue, standard cleaning or breed selection often fails to provide relief.

Kindred Companion Sciences states that the dogs are healthy and following normal developmental patterns. The process adheres to federal animal care and use standards.
