Coyotes overtake abandoned construction project site in West Hollywood

A pack of coyotes has claimed an unexpected residence in West Hollywood. Local residents report that the animals moved into the site of an abandoned apartment construction project near the intersection of Romaine Street and North Spaulding Avenue.

The unfinished structure, now referred to as the Coyote Condo by neighbors, serves as an open-air home for the animals. While the situation has become a local curiosity, it also has residents concerned about neighborhood safety, particularly for those walking pets at night.

Local authorities are aware of the presence of the pack. The City of West Hollywood maintains a Coyote Management and Coexistence Plan that has been active since 2018. This approach focuses on public education and non-lethal management techniques to keep the community safe.

The city encourages residents to use hazing strategies when encountering coyotes that appear habituated to human presence. Officials continue to monitor the area in coordination with Los Angeles County agencies to manage the situation and ensure the safety of the public.
