Operation Deer Watch invites people to report the age, sex, and location of deer they see during the day. Participants can submit these sightings throughout the summer, with a final deadline of September 30. This information provides necessary context for state wildlife decisions.
Additionally, the Game Bird Survey focuses on recording the number and types of game bird broods seen in the wild. Observations for this survey are due by August 31. These counts allow the state to assess breeding success during the year.
If you want to participate, you do not need to register. You can submit your observations directly through the Survey123 app on your mobile device. The DNR notes that safety is a priority and asks that you record sightings only when you are stopped rather than while driving.
