Centaur sells Panther National for $191M in South Florida’s biggest golf course trade this year
Centaur Holdings has sold the Panther National golf course in Palm Beach Gardens for $191.2 million, marking one of the largest golf course transactions in South Florida this year. The 392-acre property, located at 10391 Panther National Boulevard, was purchased by an entity linked to Texas-based Ohana Real Estate Investors. The deal represents a valuation of approximately $488,000 per acre.
The transaction includes the 18-hole championship golf course and a nine-hole par-three course designed by Jack Nicklaus and Justin Thomas. Additionally, the sale incorporates roughly 150 unsold home lots within the 218-unit Panther Community, where individual home prices consistently exceed $1 million.
Centaur Holdings initially acquired the site within the 4,800-acre Avenir community for $60 million in 2021. The developer finished the golf course and 68 homes by 2023. A $115 million mortgage from JPMorgan Chase Bank supported the acquisition by the new owners, while a previous $160 million loan from Sunrise Realty Trust was satisfied as part of the closing process.
The property is currently preparing for the opening of a 58,000-square-foot clubhouse this fall. This facility will offer various amenities including a restaurant, wine bar, fitness center, and golf training facilities. The move underscores a broader trend of high demand for residential golf communities, as affluent buyers increasingly seek properties that command premiums of 25 to 30 percent over standard residential markets.
Florida remains the national leader for this asset class, housing more than 500 residential golf developments. Projects like Panther National represent a significant portion of the nearly 3,200 golf clubs across the United States that feature a residential real estate component.
