Europe's Solheim Cup team for the 2026 competition in the Netherlands is now set. Captain Anna Nordqvist has finalized her roster, announcing several wildcard selections to round out the squad. Among the notable picks are Leona Maguire of Ireland and English golfer Mimi Rhodes.
Maguire earns her spot despite recent challenges with her form. While she currently sits at 79th in the world rankings and missed four cuts in her last six tournaments, her historical performance in the competition remains a key factor. Nordqvist highlighted Maguire's track record in matchplay formats, where she has secured eight wins and only three losses across three previous appearances. Maguire views this selection as a chance to return to form, noting that the team environment brings out her best performance.
Joining Maguire as a wildcard is Mimi Rhodes, who makes her debut on the European team. Rhodes turned professional after success in the 2024 Curtis Cup and has logged three wins on the Ladies European Tour. Although her recent results have fluctuated, Nordqvist identified her as a fierce competitor with matchplay experience. She joins fellow rookies Julia Lopez Ramirez of Spain and France's Nastasia Nadaud, who also received the call from the captain.
These selections complete a lineup that features automatic qualifiers including Charley Hull, Esther Henseleit, Maja Stark, Linn Grant, Celine Boutier, Carlota Ciganda, and Nanna Koerstz Madsen. Lottie Woad also joins the squad as an automatic qualifier, making her one of four debutants on the team. The European side aims to recover the trophy following their loss to the United States two years ago in Virginia.
The tournament takes place at Bernardus in the Netherlands starting on September 11. American captain Angela Stanford will announce the United States roster on August 24. With the European team now locked in, the focus shifts to the final preparation for this high-stakes contest on Dutch soil.
