Legacy Motor Club is expanding its ownership circle with a new group of high-profile investors. Seven-time champion Jimmie Johnson confirmed that this latest collection of partners includes stars from major professional sports and business. Among the new names are Bryce Harper of MLB, tennis icon Andy Roddick, and world-champion surfer Kelly Slater. The group also features Indy 500 winners Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, and Dario Franchitti alongside World Series winner Chase Utley.

This move marks a departure from traditional racing ownership structures. Johnson stated that the team looks for individuals who understand competition and organizational growth rather than traditional motorsport backers alone. These additions follow previous investments from figures like Guy Fieri and Darius Rucker, signaling a shift toward a broader cultural and competitive strategy for the team.

Legacy Motor Club, formerly known as Petty GMS Motorsports, currently operates two NASCAR charters. The team is set to expand to a third charter next season. This transition comes as the team prepares to navigate the remainder of the current season. Driver Erik Jones remains in the hunt for a postseason spot with four races left before the cutoff. Johnson himself is nearing the end of his driving career, with plans to retire from NASCAR racing after the 2027 Daytona 500.

The team is aligned with Toyota and continues to manage the performance of Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek. As the organization prepares for its upcoming expansion, these new investors provide a fresh financial and strategic foundation. The focus for the immediate future remains on the track, as Jones pushes for a strong finish to lock the team into the playoffs.
