Carson Brown is moving up the racing ladder this weekend as he makes his debut in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. The 18-year-old from New London, North Carolina, will pilot the No. 32 Chevrolet for Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport during the HyVee Perks 250 at Iowa Speedway.
Brown arrives in Iowa with a strong track record. His resume includes 11 starts in the ARCA Menards Series with eight top-three finishes and a victory at Phoenix Raceway. He also leads the ASA STARS National Tour standings this year. This progress earned him a driver development contract with Richard Childress Racing earlier this season.
To prepare for the jump to a higher series, Brown is running in the Friday night ARCA event at the same track. He views the additional seat time as a vital way to shorten the learning curve for his Saturday debut. His primary partner for the weekend is Distributor Wire & Cable, with additional support from TestEquity.
Jordan Anderson, who leads the team fielding Brown’s car, highlighted the driver's rapid adaptation to different racing disciplines. Over the last two years, Brown has competed in everything from dirt Late Models and off-road trucks to pavement Super Late Models and TA2 road racing. He secured victories in almost every category he entered.
The weekend schedule starts Friday at 7 p.m. ET for the ARCA race. The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race follows on Saturday, with coverage beginning at 5 p.m. ET on The CW. Brown remains focused on the task, noting that every previous race served as preparation for the increased competition level he will face on the Iowa oval.
