No. 69 Craftsman Truck Series team penalized after IRP

The No. 69 MBM Motorsports team faces sanctions following the recent NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. NASCAR officials issued these penalties Friday after identifying a violation during pre-qualifying inspection. The issue involves the truck's shifter boot, which failed to meet the standards outlined in Sections 14.2.3.6 A and B of the official rule book.

Driver Jonathan Shafer, who operated the No. 69 vehicle during the event, failed to qualify for the race. The resulting penalty carries both financial and competitive consequences for the team. NASCAR docked the No. 69 team 25 owner points and penalized Jonathan Shafer 25 driver points for the infraction. Additionally, MBM Motorsports must pay a fine of $5,000.

This ruling arrives as the Truck Series approaches the end of its regular season. With only two races remaining before the 10-driver field for The Chase is finalized, every point holds significant weight for teams hoping to secure a spot.
