Kentavious Caldwell-Pope reportedly negotiating buyout with Grizzlies, intends to reunite with LeBron James on Sixers

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is reportedly working toward a buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies. Following the potential departure, he plans to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers to rejoin teammate LeBron James.

The two players share a history on the court, most notably winning a title together with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2020 bubble season. Both players are represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, which frequently influences roster moves involving James.

Caldwell-Pope remains a known quantity for his 3-and-D style of play. While his production dipped during the recent season with Memphis, where he shot 31.6% from three-point range, he provides a defensive presence that fits the current Philadelphia roster. The 76ers already boast a rotation featuring Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, and Tyrese Maxey.

Adding Caldwell-Pope gives Philadelphia another veteran option on the wing. The team is clearly aiming for depth as they round out their lineup for the upcoming season. If the buyout is completed, he will occupy a lower-cost slot on a roster already built to challenge for a championship.
