Mavs match Knicks' two-year, $4.7M offer to Moussa Cisse

The Dallas Mavericks have officially matched the two-year, $4.7 million offer sheet submitted by the New York Knicks for restricted free agent Moussa Cisse. The Mavericks acted quickly to retain the 6-foot-11 center, finalizing the decision well before the required deadline.

Cisse joined the Mavericks last summer as an undrafted free agent from Memphis. He originally signed a two-way deal with the organization before the team extended a qualifying offer this offseason to maintain his status as a restricted free agent. Throughout his time with the team last season, he provided consistent presence in limited minutes, averaging 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.

Under the terms of this deal, Cisse receives a guaranteed salary structure with specific dates for full protection. Because the Mavericks matched the offer, Cisse now carries trade protections. He cannot be traded for one year without his express consent, and he is ineligible to be traded back to the New York Knicks during that same period.

The Knicks pursued Cisse as a potential solution to bolster their frontcourt depth, specifically following the departure of Mitchell Robinson in free agency. With this move, Dallas secures its depth for the upcoming season, keeping the young big man within their rotation as he approaches his 24th birthday.
