The New Orleans Saints confirmed that wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk has been placed on the reserve/retired list. This decision arrives less than one week into the team's training camp in Metairie. Polk, age 24, had been absent from practice sessions for the two days prior to the team's announcement.
Saints coach Kellen Moore noted that Polk had been excused for personal reasons. His move to retirement ends a professional run that began when the New England Patriots selected him with the 37th pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Polk spent one season with New England, recording 12 catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns across 15 games.
New Orleans acquired Polk from the Patriots last September in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick. Although he spent time on injured reserve during his stint with New England, he joined the Saints with the intent to compete for a spot in a crowded receiving unit. The Saints roster currently features several new additions, including first-round pick Jordyn Tyson, intensifying the competition for playing time.
Polk leaves the sport at 24. The status change officially moves him off the active roster, allowing the team to adjust its personnel as training camp continues.
