Alex Tuch hits the ice at MedStar Capitals Iceplex for the first time as a member of the Washington Capitals
Alex Tuch arrived at MedStar Capitals Iceplex today for his first skate as a Washington Capital. This appearance marks his return to the area following a major sign-and-trade deal signed earlier this summer.
The 30-year-old winger secured an eight-year contract with the club in June. He spent the previous five seasons with the Buffalo Sabres where he served as a primary offensive producer. During the 2022-23 season he set a career high with 79 points. Last year he finished third on the Sabres in scoring with 66 points across 79 games.
General manager Chris Patrick added Tuch as part of a wider effort to remake the forward group for the upcoming season. Tuch joins the team with expectations that he will add speed and scoring touch to the lineup. He noted that he feels confident in his decision to join a roster constructed to compete immediately.
Informal skates are now underway at the facility as players return to DC before training camp begins in September. Fans can expect to see more of the new additions on the ice in the coming weeks.
