Bedard signs 5-year, $75 million contract with Blackhawks

Connor Bedard has signed a new five-year, $75 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. The deal carries an average annual value of $15 million, locking in the center as a cornerstone of the team.

Bedard, who recently turned 21, has led the Blackhawks in scoring for each of his first three seasons. Since being drafted first overall in 2023, he has accumulated 203 points in 219 regular-season games. He also earned the Calder Trophy as the league's top rookie in 2024.

General Manager Kyle Davidson noted that Bedard has consistently exceeded expectations and elevated the play of those around him. The team expects him to remain a primary offensive threat as he continues his career in Chicago.

The contract extension comes as Bedard recovers from surgery on his left shoulder, an injury that will keep him sidelined for the start of the upcoming season. Throughout his early professional career, he has managed significant physical challenges, including a fractured jaw during his rookie campaign.

This agreement secures the franchise's young core as the organization builds toward future seasons. Bedard is eligible to begin the new contract immediately, continuing his tenure with the team that selected him at the top of the draft.
