Connor McMichael recalls the angriest he’s ever seen Capitals’ Tom Wilson: ‘Even going into the intermission, he was still seeing red’

McMichael noted that while Wilson is a supportive teammate and a positive influence in the locker room, he possesses a sharp intensity during gameplay. When teammates slack off during practice or when the game requires a physical presence, Wilson makes his expectations clear. He frequently tells those around him not to wake him up, a reference to his aggressive style when pushed.

According to McMichael, the most significant display of Wilson’s temper occurred during the 2025 playoffs. During a series against the Montreal Canadiens, a confrontation between Wilson and Josh Anderson escalated into a bench brawl. McMichael recounted that Wilson remained visibly upset well into the intermission period. That series was marked by physical exchanges, including a notable disagreement between Wilson and Arber Xhekaj.

Wilson’s ability to change the momentum of a game through physical play remains a key component of his game. Beyond the intensity, his leadership qualities have led to discussions about him becoming a future captain for the Capitals.
