Ron Duguay, being treated for cancer, hospitalized after collapse at home
Former New York Rangers star Ron Duguay has been hospitalized after collapsing at his home. His daughter, Shay Thomas, shared the news following his medical episode this past Friday.
Duguay is currently receiving care for Stage 4 colon cancer. According to his family, he fainted and sustained facial injuries during the fall. Medical tests indicate he suffered from extreme dehydration and internal complications linked to the pressure of his ongoing cancer treatment in his liver.
The 69-year-old hockey veteran was a first-round draft pick for the Rangers in 1977. He enjoyed a lengthy career in the NHL, playing for the Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Los Angeles Kings. He finished his career with 274 goals in 860 games and served as a television analyst for the MSG Network for over a decade.
His family first announced his cancer diagnosis in February of this year while establishing a fundraiser to assist with his medical costs. He remains under medical observation as doctors address the internal bleeding and liver pressure concerns stemming from his current condition.
