Inside Spencer Carbery’s plan for each of the Capitals’ major offseason additions

The Washington Capitals just completed one of the most significant offseasons in recent memory. At 6-foot-7, he offers the size needed to anchor the back end alongside offensive-minded defenders like Jacob Chychrun and Cole Hutson. His role is to provide a reliable, physical safety net that allows the team to play with more confidence in their own zone.

Finally, the team rounded out its depth with players like Jonny Brodzinski, Josh Dunne, and Justin Holl. These moves reflect a commitment to building a competitive environment from the top of the roster down to the AHL level. Carbery noted that having this level of reliable veteran depth will be essential as the long NHL season progresses. The coaching staff now has the luxury of choosing from a wider pool of talent to secure wins during the upcoming year.
