The Italian Football Federation has been searching for a new head coach since the resignation of Gennaro Gattuso following the team’s failure to advance in the recent World Cup qualifiers. Technical director Paolo Maldini has led the search, which reportedly included discussions with Carlo Ancelotti before he reaffirmed his commitment to the Brazil national team.

While Guardiola has no immediate plans to return to management, his representatives suggest he is open to exploring international coaching opportunities in the future. For now, the focus is strictly on his planned break after a decade leading Manchester City.
