Emma Raducanu will miss the upcoming US Open due to an ongoing stress fracture in her right leg. The injury, which occurred during the grass-court season, previously forced her withdrawal from Wimbledon. Following discussions with her medical team, the 23-year-old decided she is not fit enough to compete in New York this month.

This marks another physical setback for the former champion. After a strong summer last year, Raducanu struggled with a foot injury during her pre-season and spent two-and-a-half months off court earlier this year recovering from a post-viral illness. While she recently began returning to the court in a protective boot, the recovery process remains slow.

Her performance at the Queen’s Club in June was a bright spot, as she reached the final. However, that event triggered the current leg issue. Raducanu has since taken a break in Switzerland to recover. With her current ranking sitting at 49, it remains unclear if she will return to professional competition for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Great Britain’s Billie Jean King Cup team excluded her from the roster for the September finals. Raducanu continues to work toward a full return, but for now, the priority is addressing these persistent injuries.
