Rublev earns his most dominant win of 2026, Portugal's Faria reaches QFs in Estoril
Andrey Rublev continued his strong run on clay this week at the Millennium Estoril Open. The top seed secured his most dominant victory of the 2026 season by defeating Timofey Skatov 6-1, 6-1. The match lasted only 59 minutes, allowing Rublev to conserve energy as he advances further into the tournament bracket.
Rublev enters this event following a successful title run in Bastad. He hit 26 winners during his match against Skatov and currently holds a five-match winning streak. This result marks his seventh quarter-final appearance on the tour this year, confirming his current form on the surface.
Elsewhere in Estoril, Luca Van Assche moved into the quarter-finals after a three-set victory against Pablo Carreno Busta. Jaime Faria also progressed, giving local fans a reason to cheer after he eliminated Gonzalo Bueno in straight sets. Faria is now set to face Luciano Darderi in the next round.
Darderi remained clinical in his own performance, dispatching Pedro Martinez 6-0, 6-1 in just over an hour. The Italian is chasing his sixth title and appears confident following his recent final appearance in Sweden. The tournament continues as these players compete for a spot in the semi-finals.
