Sinner, Djokovic withdraw from Montreal

Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic have confirmed they will not compete at the National Bank Open in Montreal next month. The tournament organizers announced the decision on Friday, just weeks after the pair faced off in the Wimbledon final.

Sinner, who currently holds the top spot in the PIF ATP Rankings, stated that he made the choice after discussing the situation with his team. He noted that the primary motivation for withdrawing is to protect his health and manage his physical state for the remainder of the season.

Djokovic also joins the list of notable absences for the Canadian Masters 1000 event, which is scheduled for August 2 through August 13. While the tournament loses two of its biggest stars, the field still features competitive names including Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz, and home favorite Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Last year, Ben Shelton claimed the title at this event when it was held in Toronto. Fans looking for high-level tennis will still see top talent on display as the tour moves toward the final stretch of the summer hard-court season.
