Waldorf Astoria Serves Up Tennis Beneath the Chandeliers
Waldorf Astoria New York is transforming its legendary Grand Ballroom into a full-size tennis court for one night only on August 27, 2026. This unique event, the Ballroom Tennis Invitational, marks the launch of the brand’s new global platform, the Waldorf Astoria Racquet Club.
Professional athletes including Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton, Leylah Fernandez, and Maria Sakkari will compete in showcase matches beneath the ballroom chandeliers. This event highlights the shift toward sport-as-social-occasion, combining professional tennis with luxury hospitality. Attendees can expect a blend of live competition, curated culinary experiences from Lex Yard, and signature beverages like the revived Racquet Club cocktail.
Tickets and overnight packages are available now, starting at $1,500. These experiences offer access to matches, meet-and-greets with players, and wellness sessions at the Guerlain Wellness Spa. A portion of the proceeds from the event will support Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, with the Hilton Global Foundation matching contributions to assist in community mentorship programs.
This initiative connects the Waldorf Astoria brand with racquet sports globally, moving beyond this New York debut to include locations like the Maldives and Dubai. The program is designed for travelers who prioritize active, social experiences during their stays. Whether you are interested in courtside access or an immersive weekend, the event positions the hotel as a center for both sport and high-end entertainment in the heart of the city.
