These proposed measures, numbered 638 and 011, seek to restrict transgender students from competing in girls' sports.

Cunningham recently stated her position on this topic, which led to audible boos from local fans during the game. Despite the focus on the demonstration, members of the Indiana Fever organization kept their comments restricted to the matchup itself. Neither Cunningham nor teammate Caitlin Clark appeared before reporters for postgame interviews.

Instead, Fever head coach Stephanie White spoke alongside players Kelsey Mitchell and Monique Billings. A team representative issued a formal statement during the press session, confirming that the organization had no prior knowledge of the protest and no contact with the individuals who organized it. The statement stressed that the team remains focused on their goal of winning games and connecting with their fans.

Seattle Storm head coach Noelle Quinn and her organization prioritized ensuring the safety of everyone entering the arena. According to local reports, the arena security teams managed the environment so that all fans felt welcomed. Heather Weiner, representing a community coalition that opposes the initiatives, noted the overall atmosphere remained orderly.
