Amazon Web Services Names New Cloud Computing Leader

Amazon Web Services has announced a key change in its leadership team. Dave Brown is stepping down from his role as senior vice president of compute and machine learning services after 19 years at the company. His departure marks a transition point for one of the most significant divisions within the cloud computing industry.

Dave Treadwell will assume the position on August 1. Treadwell currently serves as the senior vice president of e-commerce foundation and brings extensive experience to the new role. During his tenure at Amazon, he managed site availability for Prime Day and scaled the core technology behind the company's major shopping events. Before joining Amazon ten years ago, Treadwell spent 27 years at Microsoft where he contributed to the development of the Windows operating system.

This shift comes as AWS remains a central component of global IT infrastructure. The service provides storage, database management, and AI tools for businesses and governments. Treadwell expressed admiration for the pace of innovation within the division and noted his intent to continue the work of delivering service resilience for customers.
