EuroTPC Launches as Europe’s Strategic Voice for AI for Science

EuroTPC has officially launched at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, marking a significant step for European involvement in the Trillion Parameter Consortium. The initiative provides a permanent coordination point for European researchers, national high-performance computing centers, and industry players to engage with global efforts in developing large-scale, open, and trustworthy AI for science.

Funded by the EuroHPC JU, this office acts as a bridge between European infrastructure investments and the international TPC framework. By consolidating European participation, the team aims to ensure that regional scientific strengths translate into active influence within global governance bodies. The goal is to provide a stable entry point for those looking to tap into the collaborative work already underway at the TPC.

For operators of AI factories and HPC centers, the office provides critical onboarding support, institutional mapping, and matchmaking services to connect local expertise with international working groups. It also reduces barriers for SMEs and other industry participants by facilitating access to collaborative workshops and hackathons, ensuring the wider European research community remains closely aligned with the rapid pace of change in the field.

Coordinated by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, which is a founding member of the TPC, the consortium includes key partners such as CINECA in Italy, the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre in Germany, CSC in Finland, and Neovia Innovation in France. This partnership structure allows for a unified regional position on technical and governance topics as the consortium works to solve the most important AI challenges for scientific discovery today.
