Apple continues to capture significant market share as the industry moves toward local artificial intelligence processing. According to data from Counterpoint Research, the company secured 90 percent of the market for AI-capable smartwatches during the first quarter of 2026. This segment of the market saw a 70 percent year-over-year increase in device shipments, reflecting broader consumer interest in wearable hardware that handles data locally rather than relying on cloud connections.

The company reports revenue for these products within its Wearables, Home, and Accessories division. This specific business unit generated 7.9 billion dollars in the first quarter of 2026, marking a climb from the 7.5 billion dollars recorded in the same period last year. Investors have taken note of these trends, with approximately 170 hedge funds currently holding positions in the stock.

Shares of the company have gained more than 48 percent since the start of the year. While market analysts remain positive about these growth patterns, the integration of hardware and software continues to be the primary strategy for driving future performance. The focus on edge AI capabilities allows devices to process information directly on the wrist, which provides both privacy benefits and performance advantages for users.

Financial observers monitor the hardware sector to determine if these gains will persist through the remainder of the year. With the company currently leading in shipments of specialized wearable devices, the performance of this segment remains a key indicator of consumer adoption rates for local intelligence technology.
