Granola launches an Apple Watch app

Granola has officially released an application for the Apple Watch. This move allows users to record and transcribe meetings directly from their wrist, removing the need to pull out a smartphone during face-to-face interactions.

The app functions as a watch face complication, letting users start a recording session with a single tap. It also provides prompts regarding upcoming meetings, keeping users on track throughout their day. This release is an extension of the existing iOS version, which the company introduced last year.

Co-founder Chris Pedregal noted that the development targets scenarios like walking meetings where traditional phone usage is cumbersome. Internal testing showed that employees preferred the watch-based interface over the standard mobile app once they gained access to the new features.

This launch comes at a time when companies are exploring ways to capture audio without relying solely on smartphones. Rather than creating new hardware, Granola opted to focus on software integration for existing wearables. Granola achieved a valuation of 1.5 billion dollars earlier this year following a 125 million dollar Series C funding round led by Index Ventures.

The transition toward wearable audio capture indicates a shift in how professionals manage meeting documentation. By moving these tasks to the Apple Watch, the team aims to minimize distractions while maintaining high-quality note collection.
