[Galaxy Unpacked July 2026] A First Look at Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9
Samsung announced the next generation of its wearable technology during the July 2026 Galaxy Unpacked event in London. The product launch centers on two distinct devices, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and the Galaxy Watch9, both powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite Platform. This hardware shift aims to improve processing speeds and battery efficiency across the line.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 targets high-intensity athletes and outdoor enthusiasts. It features an 800mAh battery and a high-brightness display reaching 5,000 nits. The design includes a 12% thinner profile than its predecessor and a band with an air pocket structure for weight reduction. New software capabilities include Trail Run for elevation tracking and specific diving metrics developed with the brand Mares, supported by a 10ATM water resistance rating.
For daily health tracking, the Galaxy Watch9 focuses on consistent monitoring. It uses a 390mAh battery and integrates with the updated Samsung Health platform. This system tracks activity, mindfulness, nutrition, sleep, and physical vitals. The device includes upgraded sleep apnea detection and a Heart Health Score that aggregates cardiovascular data, sleep trends, and stress levels.
Both watches introduce individualized goal setting through a Fitness Index that analyzes body composition and training history. Users can monitor hydration during workouts through a new Nutrition Alert feature that calculates fluid needs based on sweat loss. These releases indicate a focus on granular data collection and long-term health baseline monitoring for the Samsung ecosystem.
