Samsung has refreshed its wearable lineup with the launch of the Galaxy Watch9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra2. Both devices are now available in Australia. The most significant takeaway for potential buyers is that the two watches share identical core internals. Samsung includes the same Qualcomm SDW6100 processor and BioActive sensor array in both models. This means the health intelligence, including features like daily cardio load and fitness index, remains consistent regardless of the price point.
The difference between the two comes down to construction and endurance. The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is a 47mm titanium device built for specific outdoor use cases. It features a 5,000-nit display and an 800mAh battery that lasts up to 60 hours. It is certified to EN13319 standards, making it a functional instrument for diving in addition to supporting specialized modes like trail run and nutrition alerts. At a price of $1,299, it targets athletes who need rugged hardware.
The Galaxy Watch9 occupies the everyday market. Starting at $649 for the 40mm model, it uses an aluminium case that is lighter and thinner than the Ultra variant. Battery life sits at 30 hours, and the screen hits 3,000 nits. For most users, this provides the same tracking accuracy as the more expensive option without the bulk of a titanium dive watch. The outgoing Galaxy Watch8 Classic also remains in the lineup as an alternative for those who prefer traditional styling.
Samsung is running a series of promotions between 14 August and 9 September 2026. Trade-in credits reach up to $210, and buyers receive an instant credit for accessories such as Galaxy Buds or extra bands. Using the code LS-GETBAND adds a bonus strap to the order. It is worth noting that these watches are restricted to Android 13.0 or higher, as they are not compatible with iPhones.
