Charter Communications has finalized its $34.5 billion buyout of Cox Communications. This deal creates a significant shift for the cable and internet market, impacting many customers in Las Vegas and beyond.
Beginning in mid-September, Charter will start the transition of its full suite of Spectrum products into former Cox service areas. The company expects the entire integration process to occur over the next 18 months, with plans to bring its customer service functions back to the United States.
Las Vegas television viewers will see immediate changes to their programming lineups. Spectrum SportsNet LA, the regional network for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is now available to Contour TV subscribers on channel 50. This marks a change for fans who previously relied on other providers to watch the channel.
To manage the transition for new subscribers, Charter is offering a promotion that includes a free year of mobile service for current Cox internet customers who are not already with Spectrum. Company leadership stated this move intends to provide expanded product offerings across their 45-state footprint.
