Because security resolvers interpreted these errors as signs of tampering, global access to German websites ceased for several hours. This event highlights how a single point of failure within a country’s domain infrastructure can create a total blackout for its digital services.
Geopolitical conflict also left a distinct mark on connectivity. In the Middle East, drone strikes against AWS facilities in the UAE damaged cloud infrastructure, leaving specific regions unable to support customer applications. Meanwhile, traffic data from Iran suggests that even as the country restores internet access following a lengthy conflict-related shutdown, usage remains at roughly 59 percent of pre-outage levels.
